AUCC to name Business School after Sir Sam Jonah

ACCRA, JUNE 5, 2013 — The first ever black president of AngloGold Ashanti and the man described by Forbes magazine as the man with the golden touch, Sir Sam Jonah has paid a familiarization visit to the African University College of Communications (AUCC) today. Sir Jonah’s visit was ahead of the upcoming launch of the SAM JONAH BUSINESS SCHOOL at AUCC. The renowned investment guru, who is the first and only African to sit on the prestigious International Investment Advisory Council, stated that he was highly impressed with the exponential growth of AUCC after only 10 years of existence. “I am truly humbled by this honour by AUCC,” Sir Jonah said. In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman and Founder of AUCC, Hon. Kojo Yankah, described Sir Jonah as a “humble, courageous and determined man with great communication skills and rare business acumen.” The acting dean of the AUCC Business School, Dr. G. Koryoe Anim-Wright, stated in a presentation that the AUCC Business School was honoured to be working under the guidance and leadership of Sir Jonah to “redefine” the concept of a business school and a business graduate in the minds of Ghanaians and Africans. Sir Jonah encouraged the governing council members and management of AUCC to “dare to be different” in order to position AUCC as the University of choice, urging them to “always think outside the box in order to make a difference.” The essence of leadership, he continued, is to dream. Commending Hon. Kojo Yankah for his dream of founding AUCC, he stressed that not all who have a dream have the fortitude to see, and carry, it through. Inspired by Hon. Kojo Yankah’s passion for AUCC, Sir Jonah pledged to do “whatever it takes to ensure the dreams of the Founder and AUCC Governing Council are realized.” AUCC Governing Council members present at the meeting included Mrs. Emma Mitchell, Ghana’s former Minister of Trade of Ghana, Mr. Kwamena Anaman, former corporate affairs director of AngloGold Ashanti and Nana Essilfie Conduah, veteran broadcaster and chair of the AUCC Journalism School. The SAM JONAH BUSINESS SCHOOL will be launched on Thursday, June 27, 2013.
